Court Reserves Ruling In Jonathan’s Eligibility Case

The Court of Appeal, Abuja Division has reserved ruling in the application filed by a presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, Dr. Umar Ardo, praying the Court to allow him join in a pending appeal.

One Cyriacus Njoku had filed an appeal challenging the judgment of Justice Mudashiru Oniyangi of the Abuja High Court which dismissed his (Njoku) suit challenging Jonathan’s eligibility to re-contest in 2015.
Justice Oniyangi had in March 2013 declared that President Jonathan was eligible to contest the 2015 Presidential election.
Shortly after the judgement was delivered, Njoku approached the Court of Appeal to challenge the judgement.
The President, through his counsel, Ade Okeaya-Inneh (SAN), opposed the application on ground that the applicant did not satisfy the provisions of Section 243 (1) (a) which stipulates the process of joining an appeal.
